JMJ January 6, 2019 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always. A Blessed Feast of the Epiphany! Have you turned the pages yet? I am referring to the Christmas Book Gift: “The Biggest Lie in the History of Christianity.” I do hope so because it is an easy read with a timely message because most often than not we find ourselves in the midst of the demands of our daily routines and the distractions the world throws our way. Now more than ever we need to stand our ground that there is still hope for us all because indeed we have a Loving God who is with us every step of the way.

We are six days into the New Year and at this time we are still are very much aware of our resolutions. Most often than not we Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval focus on something, that concerns our physical or even fiscal well-being. I would like to invite you to consider also making a resolution that address something that is an essential part of our humanity – our spirituality. Before the year ended, we were given a gift and challenge to engage in the Dynamic Catholic Parish Initiative. We have already taken the necessary few steps and now we are asked to make a determined step towards providing a goal for our five-year journey into this undertaking. This important step will be the “Dream Event,” this coming January 16th at 7:00 pm. It will require us to engage actively in this activity that will define and mark the path we are to take to make our parish dynamic and effective in evangelizing and proclaiming the Good News. For the next two weeks we are having a sign-up effort towards this endeavor so I do humbly ask that you save the date and participate actively in the evening when we consolidate our vision for our Parish Family.

Foreign Currency and Tithing From time to time we receive foreign currency in our Sunday collection. Unfortunately, we are not able to deposit foreign monies with our bank. We dislike to throw away currency just because it is of no use to the parish when we know it has value elsewhere, so we ask you to please refrain from contributing with foreign coin. We appreciate our parishioner’s time, talent, and U.S. treasure!

Next Confirmation Classes for CI and II are: CI class #7: January 8th, 7:00pm-8:30pm in parish hall. CII class # 7: January 15th, 7:00pm-8:30pm in parish hall. Students should have turned in their saint report by now. If not, get at it this week and turn it in class #7. All CII students need to have their Baptism certificate and sponsor verification form turned in by December 30th or will have to delay their confirmation a year. Parents who volunteered to chaperone on these nights are assigned to a room when they arrive. Please bring a snack to share with the class you chaperone. Estimate 20 students for a snack/classroom. Next FNL/Youth Group meeting: January 6 th from 2pm -4pm in the Pillar Room (next to my office). High School Student’s, please bring a friend and come check this group out if you are looking for fun, friendship and want to improve your leadership skills. This counts for either service or Faith sharing credit. Mark your preference when you sign in on the clipboard. The “Lord” asks that we reach out to others and this can be your way to do so. We look forward to seeing all of you Saturday, January 12th. Items to drop off:  Aluminum cans  Bi-Metal cans  All types of paper  Books, Magazines  Glass jars & bottles  Plastics (Water bottles, Milk bottles, etc.) Please rinse out all containers If you have questions bring it and we will let you know. We will be in the lower parking lot from 7:00am to 12:00pm rain or shine. You can also drop off any recyclables during the week in the drop off area. Just open the gate and leave them in the designated area at the end of the trailer. Look for the recycling sign.

Assistance for CA Wild Fire victims ETC, ETC

Our next Special Collection -December 29th and 30th. We appreciate your continued generosity (while of course continuing to support the weekly church collection). There will be Saint Vincent de Paul members outside after each Mass the weekend of January 12th and 13th, 2019 to provide a complimentary prayer card, more information on SVDP and to answer any questions. South County Outreach Food Drive January 12th and 13th Our monthly food drive to assist South County Outreach is held the second weekend of each month. We all want to be happy. And the reason we all want to be happy is because God created us for happiness. One of the lies of the world is that you'll be happy when you get what you want. But getting what you want doesn't make you happy. You know that. There have been times in your life when you got what you wanted, but it didn't make you happy. God tells us that he created us for happiness. He wants us to become the-best- version-of -ourselves. But there's suffering in that journey. There's sacrifice in that journey. There's discipline in that journey. But the journey is worth it. And the reason the journey is worth it is because you're worth it. Please stop by the parish office if you have yet to receive your copy.

Todos queremos ser felices. Y la razón por la que todos queremos ser felices es porque Dios nos creó para la felicidad. Una de las mentiras del mundo es que serás feliz cuando consigas lo que quieres. Pero conseguir lo que quieres no te hace feliz. Tú lo sabes. Ha habido momentos en tu vida en los que obtuviste lo que querías, pero no te hizo feliz. Dios nos dice que nos creó para la felicidad. Cena de Epifanía Organizada por los Caballeros de Cólon El sábado, 5 de Enero, tendremos la cena anual de Epifanía en el Salón Parroquial después de la misa de las 5pm. Este es un buen momento para pasar un rato con la familia, amigos y compartir historias de Navidad. La cena será jamón, papas, ejotes, y otros aderezos. Se sugiere una donación de $10 por persona.

Misa de Sanación La Misa de Sanación se celebrará el segundo sábado de cada mes (12 de enero) durante la Misa de las 8 am. Venga y experimente el poder de la fe y la presencia sanadora de Dios.
