JMJ January 7, 2018 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always. A Blessed Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord to all of you. How was your first seven days of 2018? I do hope that it has been filled with wonderful moments with people who made it memorable. By that I do pray that it has been an acceptance and appreciation of the gifts of people around the table. We have celebrated the Feast of the Holy Family last week reminding us of the God’s wisdom of providing us a safe haven where we can experience nurturing love. Let us pray that we keep our families united in sincere concern with one another.

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Epiphany our liturgical celebrations reflect this revelation that the Good News is to be shared and proclaimed. Foreign Currency and Tithing From time to time we receive foreign currency in our Sunday collection. Unfortunately, we are not able to deposit foreign monies with our bank. We dislike to throw away currency just because it is of no use to the parish when we know it has value elsewhere, so we ask you to please refrain from contributing with foreign coin. We appreciate our parishioner’s time, talent, and U.S. treasure! PATIO UPDATE Our patio will start moving forward in the next couple of months. We are waiting for approval and our contract to be drawn by the Construction Department at the Diocese in order to proceed with demolition and for construction to begin. A short course developed to help non-practicing Catholics return to the Sacraments. The course was developed reflecting Christ as community, a community of Santiago parishioners extending unconditional love and support. Mass with Anointing of the Sick Mass with Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated on the second Saturday (January 13th) of every month during the 8am Mass. Come and experience the power of faith and the healing presence of God.

RECYCLING WE NEED YOUR RECYCLABLES The Knights need your help in collecting recyclables. Your recyclables are a gift to those in need. The “Lord” asks that we reach out to others and this can be your way to do so. We look forward to seeing all of you Saturday January 13th, 2018. Items to drop off: • Aluminum cans • Bi-Metal cans • All types of paper • Books, Magazines • Glass jars & bottles • Plastics (Water bottles, Milk bottles, etc.) Please rinse out all containers If you have questions bring it and we will let you know. We will be in the lower parking lot from 7:00am to 12:00pm rain or shine. You can also drop off any recyclables during the week in the drop off area. Just open the gate and leave them in the designated area at the end of the trailer. Look for the recycling sign.

TOTSIE ROLL DRIVE January 13th and 14th There will be a Tootsie Roll Drive the weekend of January 13th and 14th after all the Masses. Please mark your calendar and help support in any way possible.

South County Outreach Food Drive January 13th and January 14th Our monthly food drive to assist South County Outreach is held the second weekend of each month. If you are unable to bring your donation this weekend, remember there are baskets in the parish hall that you can put your donations into during the week.

It’s Coming! Sunday, January 14, 2018 8:00am-12:00pm Boys and girls 9-14 compete by age and the winners will progress to district and state competitions. Participants must have parental consent. All contestants will be recognize. Join us in the lower parking lot.

Paper Drive for Isaiah House A special thank you to all the very generous parishioners who donated paper goods for the Isaiah House. Leah, Dwight and the women who stay at the house were very happy and appreciative. The homeless community is in a difficult place now with the many changes coming from our local governments. As Christians, Deuteronomy 15:11 tells us, "There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be open handed toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land." Thank you for living your faith.
