JMJ July 1, 2018 My Dearest Parish Family,

Backyard Theology will be having their first gathering next Monday make sure you find time to be there for fellowship and learning. Today is the last day for the discounted registration rate for our “Camino – Along the Way” on July 28th. We need volunteers for both activities so that they can be meaningful and memorable events – hopefully many will rise up to the invitation. Thank you in advance for those who will respond to the call to serve. God bless and take care.

God be with us always. Allow me to greet all of you an advance Wonderful and Happy Fourth! May we all have a pleasant time with family and friends on the day we celebrate our Independence. Once again our parish will be joining the Fourth of Love and prayers, July Parade with our Music Ministry providing entertainment for the people.

In the Gospel this Sunday, our Lord Jesus the Divine Healer, performs two miracles: Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval one from a desperate woman reaching out to touch the hem of his cloak to be healed and the second bringing back to life the daughter of Jairus. In both instances Christ our Lord manifests that He is indeed the author of life. As the Messiah he came to give life, cure life and sustain life. This narrative gives us the reason to trust in the Lord Jesus especially during times when we find ourselves being tired and tested to the point of giving up. We live in a world when we can give life to others by the witnessing of our Christian lifestyle. It may never be perfect but all it takes is the willingness to allow the Holy Spirit to strengthen and guide us how we can best JMJ serve each other. God always gives us another chance in life – sometimes when we think that the burden is too much all we have to do is to reach out to Jesus – the very same way the woman and Jairus did. They received the healing and life-giving grace they needed. Let us never be afraid to approach our Lord so that we may rise up from our defeats, mistakes and defects.

Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval
