A Roman Catholic Stewardship Church Our Mission With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we, the Roman Catholic Community of Santiago de Compostela aspire to proclaim in word and action the living

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Praise God! We belong to God's church, which points us to heaven while also embracing our human condition. In today's Gospel, Jesus sends his disciples out to baptize all people in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Baptism washes us clean spiritually, but also refreshes us physically. Think of the dirtiest you have ever been--drenched in sweat, covered in dirt, or long unbathed for some reason. Then recall how invigorating it felt to wash in running water. This physical experience of refreshing water reminds us of God's power to renew us, body and soul. In baptism we become part of God's family, as Saint Paul says, through "a Spirit of adoption." As beloved children of God, we cry out "Abba!" and confess from the depths of our hearts that, as Deuteronomy says, the LORD is God, and there is no other.

JMJ May 27, 2018 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always. Happy Feast of the Holy Trinity! We are created out of and for love. Theologians have expounded on this divine truth that creation is the full expression of the love between the three Persons of the Holy Trinity. One truth that should always be the foundation of how we see our lives and live our lives is that there is a Loving God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit whose divine intention is for us to spend eternity in Heaven with them. It is the journey to get there which become a challenge and an adventure for each one of us. It is a month after we have launched the “500 to 40” Spiritual Pilgrimage as a Parish. In case you missed it: 500 refers to the number of days until we celebrate 40 years as a parish established in the Diocese of Orange. We decided on a 500 days of preparation because it recalls the 500 or so miles that a pilgrim walks to the Basilica of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. This is one of the “oldest pilgrimage centers in Europe” and we are the only other parish named exactly like it in the world (as far as google is concerned).

La pregunta que podemos hacernos es: ¿dónde estamos ahora en nuestra peregrinación espiritual? ¿A dónde nos ha llevado nuestro "recorrido de 500 a Fr. Thomas Paul K. Buen Camino! This is the greeting exchanged among those who meet along the way of the pilgrimage. The question we can ask ourselves is: where are we now in our spiritual pilgrimage? Where has our “500 to 40 walk” taken us so far? Have we become more and more a community of the faithful that testify to what we believe leading others to a greater experience of JMJ hope and a continuous sharing of love? Are we still engaged in this unique 27 de mayo de 2018 experience we are blessed with? THANK YOU HECTOR & CINDY GUZMAN For over 10 years, Hector and Cindy Guzman have been a part of the Hospitality Ministry here at Santiago. The Lord is now calling them into a different path in their personal and spiritual lives. Their last day serving the 12:30pm Mass will be Sunday, June 3rd. Their calling to the ministry began during Hector’s Knights of Columbus meeting one night when he heard there were ushers needed during the 12:30pm Mass. As they became more involved in this ministry, they noticed the lack of members and was looking for ways to invite the congregation to be a part of this ministry. With the Lord’s help, he was able to recruit more members. In 2014, Hector was invited to become Usher/Hospitality Ministry Leader, before Fr. Thomas came to Santiago. Once Fr. Thomas arrived, great changes happened beginning with the name change to “Hospitality Ministry”. He knew it was a harder name to live up to than an usher, it became more of a challenge, and made him realize he would have to be more active since he was a leader. Some of the Santiago memories they will take with them is time Fr. Thomas celebrated midnight Mass and the star of Bethlehem was lit up, being able to see children receive First Holy Communion and teenagers as well as adults receive their Confirmation, the transformation of our music ministry, Fr. Thomas songs after the homily, and finally all the good people of Santiago de Compostela. You have been a blessing to Santiago de Compostela. We wish you the best in this new journey the Lord has guided you to take. You will be in our prayers!
