A Roman Catholic Stewardship Church Our Mission With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we, the Roman Catholic Community of Santiago de Compostela aspire to proclaim in word and action the living Gospel of Jesus Christ. ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME In today's Gospel, Jesus is presented to us as the master storyteller. He loved to use parables as a tool for comparing one thing to something else. In most of his parables, Jesus revealed who God is by comparing God's essence or actions with something familiar to his listeners. In the parable of the mustard seed, Jesus proclaims a marvelous and irrefutable truth. His small band of disciples, as insignificant as they may have felt, would one day produce a mighty kingdom whose growth was initiated by God. The seeds of this kingdom were planted by God and it is God who will harvest the fruit brought forth from those seeds. The extent of the growth of God's kingdom cannot be predicted. We must trust the work of the Master's hand as we, the mustard plant, grow and grow.

Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

JMJ June 17, 2018 My Dearest Parish Family, God be with us always. A Blessed and Wonderful Happy Father’s Day to all Dads! May there be memorable and meaningful celebrations of this day. While it is not a religious event it can lead us to reflect and also remember God our Loving Father who gave us His Son our Lord Jesus and the enduring presence of the Holy Spirit. Allow me also to congratulate the couples who renewed their marital commitment and thank the Knights of Columbus for initiating this wonderful event.

The second is that there will always be room for growth. Perfection or holiness is a lifelong process. One learns as one progresses in the relationship God initiates. A sincere and consistent prayer life is one of the keys to deepening one communion with God. A humble acceptance of the experiences good or bad can help transform and sanctify a disciplesteward of God. These coming months there are many opportunities for each one of us to allow growth to happen: there is Backyard Theology, the Camino, VBS among many others. I hope we say yes and then behold the results of what God’s loving providence bring into our lives. God bless and take care. Love and prayers,

“Top of the Morning” to which I replied Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval “the rest of the day to the Lord!” This was an exchange of greeting I have not heard for a while. One of the priests in our retreat last week greeted me this way and he was surprised that I replied that way. This led me to explain for a second where I learned the response. I credit of course our parishioner Bill Breen for this. The exchange made me reflect on how indeed these words of greeting bring to our minds the providence of God and the hope that it should inspire in each one of us. If at the beginning of each day we recognize with gratitude the Divine, Loving Father then we plant the seed of openness to the action, guidance and effect of grace in our lives. This is one way we can apply into daily life the Gospel illustration and lesson of the two seeds – the unnamed ones and the mustard seed whose similarity is just in its size and abundant results The lessons can also point us to two realities about one’s relationship with God. One is that great things do indeed come from small beginnings. Recall the “Fiat” of our Blessed Mother Mary, the acceptance of St. Joseph to be the foster father of the Messiah, the numerous yes of the Prophets and Holy People of Sacred Scripture. It should lead one into a hopeful trust to say yes to the inspiration of the Spirit. When one perceives a call, a challenge and stirring of the heart into service or ministry – God only asks for a yes. Remember how I have shared that God always qualifies those whom He calls.

Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval
