A Roman Catholic Stewardship Church Our Mission With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we, the Roman Catholic Community of Santiago de Compostela aspire to proclaim in word and action the living Gospel of Jesus Christ. TENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Jesus longs for us to belong to one family in him, through baptism. Today's readings look at three blessings provided by membership in God's family: understanding, permanence, and hospitality. In Genesis, Adam and Eve, filled with shame, hide from God. God finds them, of course, and sees deep into their hearts. Before God discusses their disobedience, God shows understanding and tenderness by banishing the creature most responsible for their sin: the serpent. God always understands and protects the members of God's family. This protection does not prevent suffering on earth, but, as Saint Paul explains to the Corinthians, guarantees our permanent, glorious happiness in heaven. Today's Gospel reminds us that God wants to welcome all of us into that glory. Breaking all barriers, Jesus assures us he heartily welcomes all who love and follow him. God's family welcomes, understands, and offers eternal life.

My Dearest Parish Family,

Mi Querida Familia Parroquial,

God be with us always. Yesterday Bishop Silva the Presenter for our Priests Retreat for this year mentioned that when people come into our Liturgical Celebrations he hopes that it is not because we have a friendly Parish or we have a nice Church. It should be because they encounter Jesus in our midst. After hearing this, I remembered our celebration last Saturday when out of gratitude we honored our parish volunteers with a dinner. In that celebration, what I experienced was the fellowship of people with kindred spirit: “that of responding to God’s will to be a witness.”

Our volunteers who do so many different services allow us to realize our Parish Mission Statement. Looking around the parish hall I see all those who make the encounter with the Lord and deepen our relationship with Him possible. Here are pictures of the night when we celebrated the gifts of who we are that we share with our parish family. Again our sincerest gratitude to all who made it that night and to those who for one reason or another did not but still give of the precious gift of service to our parish family. God bless and take care.

Love and prayers,

Fr. Thomas Paul K. Naval

Con amor y mis oraciones,

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES COLLECTION AND THE PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION JUNE 23RD AND 24TH Our Universal Church collection will be on June 23rd and 24th. This special collection combines the Catholic Relief Services Collection and the Peter’s Pence Collection. The mission of Catholic Relief Services is to assist the poor and disadvantaged by alleviating human suffering, promoting development of all people, and fostering charity and justice internationally. CRS aids the poor by first providing direct assistance where needed, and then encouraging these people to help with their own development. Peter’s Pence Collection gives us an opportunity to be a witness of charity to our brothers around the world. It promotes and supports the works of our Holy Father, enabling him to respond with emergency financial assistance to victims of war, natural disasters, and others most in need of assistance. Thank you for your support and generosity of all these collections in the midst of the many other demands.
