~ REFLECTION ~

Today we celebrate Father’s Day, honoring our fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and all those who have acted as fathers in our lives. How fortunate are we if we had or have a father who is like the majestic cedar described in the first reading, providing comfort and protection for all those in its care. Whatever our own circumstances, we can look to God, our Almighty Father, as the ideal of a fostering, loving, forgiving parent.

~ REFLEXION ~

Did You Know?

As parents/caregivers, we teach children to say “please” and “thank you,” to play nicely, and to respect other adults. It is also key to stress the importance of safety, and let children know that it is okay to be impolite if they feel threatened or scared. Children should know that it’s okay to say “NO” if someone is asking them to do something they don’t feel comfortable doing, and that setting boundaries by saying things like -- “Don’t touch me there,” or “I don’t like that” -- are not rude, but in fact necessary for their safety. Sabia Usted?
