The next two weekends are very joyful weekends for our parish, as many of our little ones will celebrate their First Communion. It is a special day in their lives and in the life of the parish, as they receive the Body and Blood of Jesus for the very first time. Of course, one could argue that any day on which you receive the Lord in the Eucharist is a pretty special day, whether it is for the first time or the ten thousandth time. Our Lord loves you as much today as He did on the day you received your first communion. In our Father’s eyes, we are children, beloved children, favored children, His children, children whom He loves even more than we love our own children. His love for you is unique to you, it is personal, and he wants to share that love with you whenever you receive the Eucharist. May we open our hearts to receiving that love. -Fr. Liekhus

April 30, 2017-3rd Sunday of Easter

“Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, while He opened to us the scriptures?” Luke 24:32 How often do we take the time to discern what Jesus wants from us? Are our prayers always petitions, asking Jesus to do things for us? If so, that’s a one-sided relationship. Living our faith means developing a personal relationship with Jesus. Just like any friendship, there is give and take, each side listening to each other and helping each other out. Take time in silence to listen to what Jesus is asking of you and plan to attend St Gabriel’s Ministry Fair after Masses on May 20 & 21.

Deceased: Please pray for the repose of the souls of Charles Munster and Robert Trautman and pray for their family and friends who mourn them.

Families Moving Forward (FMF) Report St Gabriel’s hosted FMF the week of April 2-9. There were three families totaling eleven people: four adults and seven children ages 3-10. We partitioned off the music room to house two families and the family of six used the nursery. A big “thank you”, to the 51 adults and 27 children who volunteered in many ways to show our hospitality. One of the major ways we show hospitality is to have children to play with the guest children. This allows the parents to just sit back and relax. Because we had such nice weather, we used the playground six of the nights. Our guests and volunteer kids all rested well after their 90 minutes on the playground! We will host FMF again the week of June 25-July 2, 2017. Deacon Francis Tangney

Copyright © J. S. III Domingo Pascua “A”

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J.
