GABRIEL (VBS) WILL BE AT IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY: TOTUS TUUS, JUNE 17-21 Totus Tuus is an exciting summer program for our parish children. It will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish June 17 -21. Children going into 1st-6th grade next fall are invited to participate. The program will start each day at 9:00am and wrap up at 2:30pm. The week will include strong Catholic teaching presented in a lively, fun way, games, songs, prayer, Mass, friends, and FUN! Registration brochures with registration forms are available in the back of the church or from Cindy.

TOTUS TUUS FOR 7TH – 12TH GRADE: EVENING PROGRAM JUNE 16-20, 6:30-8:45 p.m. This will be a great week for growing in your faith! You will experience the loving presence of the Totus Tuus young adult team, impactful teachings, honest discussions, prayerful encounters with Jesus through the sacraments, and a refreshing break from “regular” life. Use the Totus Tuus registration brochure to sign up.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR TOTUS TUUS VBS PROGRAM We are looking for many adults to help with our week of Totus Tuus VBS. We will need adults to help in our children’s groups (no teaching, but assisting and monitoring), prepare, set out, and clean up our snacks, help monitor our “recess” break, etc. Help every day or one day.

UPDATE! Here is the Families Moving Forward story for April 2019. We started out with three families totaling 11 people. After one night the family of 5 decided that this system did not work for them and they left the program. We enjoyed them and their children and missed them. That left us with two families. One was a father and his two teenaged daughters. The girls are home schooled so after supper each night they retired to their room and we did not see them until breakfast. The other family consisted of Mom, Dad and a one-year-old. After supper, they went to their room. It was quiet time. On Thursday afternoon I was talking with the FMF staff on another subject and they asked if we would take in another family. I said that we really expected to. Well within the hour we had a new family that had just become homeless coming to be with us. They consisted of Mom, Dad, and three children ranging in age from 3 to 9 yrs. They arrived at our parish on the FMF bus at 6:00 pm. This was a whirlwind for them! At 2 in the afternoon they had not heard of FMF and now they were in this strange place ready for supper and a place to sleep. They handled it well. The kids played together just like you would want them to. Our volunteers were busy again. I thought this was the end and then FMF called and asked if we could accept two more children. The mother of the one year old has two other boys that have permission to be with her Saturday night. The answer, of course was, bring them on! FMF is a part of the parish Outreach Ministry. The team was able to make the necessary adjustments in how much food to prepare, how many volunteers needed and to react in a short time to set up the bedroom for the new family. We certainly practice being flexible. So we have a special thank you to the 47 adults and children that supported FMF this week. We will host FMF again starting Sunday July 14. A Family Thanks To Francis, Being homeless s--- but people like you and your congregation make it s--- a little less. Me and my wife were amazed at the hospitality and kindness we experienced here. Everyone here has been amazing. The rooms & food were excellent. If anyone ever asked me for a recommendation for a church I would tell them to come here. It really is a beautiful church. You guys really are beautiful people. We don’t know what to expect anywhere we go but it’ll always beat the alternative. What we received here was unexpected & great. Thank you again for everything. We greatly appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you very much.

NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE (NCYC): NOVEMBER 20-24, 2019 The National Catholic Youth Conference is a powerful, biennial, threeday experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for high school -aged youth. The schedule includes keynote presentations, prayer, workshops, liturgy, and opportunities to participate in reconciliation and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as well as recreational activities, concerts, and exhibits. We will be joining a larger group from the Archdiocese to travel to Indianapolis, IN in November and we need to organize and make a commit to participate NOW! Education April 21, 2019 - EASTER SUNDAY

Acts 10:34a, 37-43; Colossians 3:1-4 or 1Corinthians 5:6b-8; John 20:1-9 Christ is risen, Alleluia! We have completed the 40 days. Our teaching during this time has been on the mercy of God. Our God is a merciful God. We dove-tailed the teaching of God’s mercy on the need to be reconciled with God and others. For us to receive the fullness of God’s mercy, we need, each of us, to be forgiving and show mercy to others. We also went through the triduum, the passion and death of Jesus. During these three days we walked with Jesus on the way to the cross and to his death. We were there when Jesus washed the feet of the Apostles and told them that the one who wanted to be the greatest among them needed to be the least. And that just as he had washed their feet, they were to wash each other’s feet. We heard him say, “This is my body, take and eat. This is the cup of my blood, take and drink. Do this is memory of me.” And of course, that we must take up our cross daily and follow Jesus. And then came Easter---the resurrection! No one saw him leave the tomb. It was just Mary of Magdala that found and reported the tomb was empty! This is not the end of the story, there is more. Jesus will walk among his friends for several days. He will continue to teach them and let them see that he is truly alive. Then he will ascend to heaven right before their eyes with the promise to send the advocate. Once that happens the Church is born and we are the church in the world today. Happy Easter. ♦ ♦

Comenzamos con tres familias con un total de 11 personas. Después de una noche, la familia de 5 integrantes decidió que este sistema no funcionaba para ellos y abandonaron el programa. Disfrutamos de ellos y sus hijos y los extrañamos. Eso nos dejó con dos familias. Uno era un padre y sus dos hijas adolescentes. Las niñas son educadas en casa, así que después de la cena todas las noches se retiraban a su habitación y no las veíamos hasta el desayuno. La otra familia estaba formada por Mamá, Papá y un niño de un año. Después de la cena, se fueron a su habitación. Era tiempo tranquilo. El jueves por la tarde estaba hablando con el personal de la FMF sobre

otro tema y me preguntaron si queríamos acoger a otra familia. Dije que realmente la esperábamos. Bueno, dentro de una hora teníamos una nueva familia que acababa de quedarse sin hogar y venía a estar con nosotros. Consistían en Mamá, Papá y tres niños de edades comprendidas entre los 3 y los 9 años. Llegaron a nuestra parroquia en el autobús de FMF a las 6:00 pm. ¡Esto fue un torbellino para ellos! A las 2 de la tarde no conocían a FMF y ahora estaban en este extraño lugar listos para la cena y un lugar para dormir. Lo manejaron bien. Los niños jugaban juntos como uno quisiera que lo hicieran. Nuestros voluntarios estaban ocupados otra vez. Pensé que esto era el fin y luego FMF llamó y preguntó si podíamos aceptar dos hijos más. La madre del niño de un año tiene otros dos hijos que tienen permiso para estar con ella el sábado por la noche. La respuesta, por supuesto, fue, ¡tráelos! FMF es parte del Ministerio de Servicio de la parroquia. El equipo pudo hacer los ajustes necesarios en cuanto a la cantidad de alimentos para preparar, la cantidad de voluntarios que se necesitaban y reaccionar en poco tiempo para preparar el dormitorio para la nueva familia. Ciertamente practicamos ser flexibles. Así que tenemos un agradecimiento especial a los 47 adultos y niños que apoyaron FMF esta semana. Volveremos a presentar FMF a partir del domingo 14 de julio. Por favor considere ayudar a este Ministerio de Servicio. Diácono Francis Agradecimiento de una Familia Estimado Francis, estar sin hogar es horrible, pero la gente como usted y su congregación hacen que sea un poco menos horrible. Mi esposa y yo nos sorprendimos de la hospitalidad y la amabilidad que experimentamos aquí. Todos aquí han sido increíbles. Las habitaciones y la comida eran excelentes. Si alguien me pidiera una recomendación para una iglesia, les diría que vinieran aquí. Realmente es una hermosa iglesia. Ustedes realmente son gente hermosa. No sabemos qué esperar en ningún lugar, pero siempre será mejor que la alternativa. Lo que recibimos aquí fue inesperado y genial. Gracias de nuevo por todo.
