Cathedral City PRIDE Neighborhood Focus Program Mission statement – “To enhance the quality of life and visual aspects of the community through the administration of fair and unbiased compliance program.”

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO EVALUATE YOUR PROPERTY AND WORK TO CORRECT ANY VIOLATIONS YOUR PROPERTY MAY HAVE. Below is a list of the most common residential violations.

➤ LANDSCAPING: All landscape shall be maintained in healthy condition by proper irrigation, trimming, edging and removing weeds. Dead plants should be removed and replaced. ➤ OUTSIDE STORAGE: Items including, but not limited to, furniture, household items, yard equipment, tools, building materials, vehicle parts, tires, appliances, cleaning equipment, landscaping equipment or boxes must be kept out of public view. ➤ PARKING: Vehicles are required to be parked on the existing driveway or approved surface. Parking on grass, dirt, vacant lots or decorative landscape is not allowed.

➤ INOPERATIVE VEHICLES: Vehicles that are unlicensed, wrecked, abandoned or in disrepair may not be stored in public view. ➤ GARBAGE CONTAINERS: Garbage containers must be stored behind your fence out of public view within 12 hours after curb service. They should not be seen from the street or neighboring properties. ➤ BULKY ITEMS: Keep your sidewalks free of discarded household items such as furniture, appliances, TV’s and other items. You must first call Burrtec at (760) 340-2113 to schedule a bulky item pickup. Simply place the items on the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled trash day. Report illegal dumping to (760) 770-0369.

Bulky Item Service Help keep your neighborhood clean and beautiful! In order to collect the large volume of bulky items placed at the curb each week, the City and Burrtec ask that you follow the procedures listed below:

Schedule Your Pick-Up When you are ready to place a bulky item at the curb for disposal, please call or e-mail Burrtec and schedule a pick-up time. Burrtec’s Customer Service Representatives will schedule your appointment for the next service day. When e-mailing your request, please include your address, number of bulky items, and a description of each bulky item that you are placing at the curb. Failure to provide all the correct information may result in a delay of service.

4 Item Limit Per Week Cathedral City residents are allowed to use this FREE service every week. The City and Burrtec Waste & Recycling Services request that you limit each scheduled pick-up to NO MORE THAN 4 ITEMS at a time. Simply place your bulky items at the curb by 6 a.m. just like your normal refuse. Place the items at least 5 feet from your nearest refuse or recycling cart. If you live in a multi-family residential housing complex, contact your management office for details on how to properly dispose of bulky items within your complex.

The trunks, stumps, or limbs of trees should not exceed 18 inches in diameter or 4 feet in length. Must be broken down and bundled with a string. The glass portion must be duct taped in an “X” pattern over the glass before placing out at the curb to avoid breakage.

Illegal Dumping If you find a large, bulky item located on or near a vacant lot in your neighborhood, contact Cathedral City’s Environmental Conservation Manager at (760) 770-0369 or email [email protected]. Provide a description of the item and its location for removal.

Reusable Shopping Tote Bag New legislation now requires that most grocers and pharmacies provide bins for the collection and recycling of plastic bags. This generates greater markets for the use of recycled plastic bags as well as eliminates the havoc caused by plastic bag litter. But why not eliminate the waste before its generated? Instead of using plastic bags to carry out your groceries, take along a reusable tote bag and use it again and again.

In support of the environment, the City of Cathedral City, for a limited time only, is offering a free reusable tote bag to Cathedral City residents.

Cathedral City WaterSmart Landscape Grant Program

Cathedral City WaterSmart Landscape Grant Program was created to educate, encourage and assist residents of Cathedral City with the conversion of their current lush (green) landscaping to a more drought tolerant landscaping, ultimately utilizing water more efficiently and reducing the amount of water run-off in our city. Reducing water run-off has the added benefit of protecting both your family and neighbors from West Nile virus, by limiting water sources where mosquitoes like to breed. The program helps property owners convert water-thirsty grass to xeriscape, a lush yet water-efficient landscape in the front yards of residential properties. Qualifying projects should include the following: •

Removal of grass located in the front yard and replacement with drought tolerant landscaping.

•

Removal or relocation of sprinkler system so that it only services turf and drought tolerant planting and does not spill over onto sidewalks or streets.

Residents that qualify will receive dollar for dollar match up to a maximum of $500 per property. In order to receive reimbursement, you will be required to obtain final approval of the work from the Environmental Conservation Manager and submit receipts. Grants will be awarded to qualified residents on a first come first served basis. Sharps Disposal Programs Cathedral City residents have two options for the safe disposal of unwanted needles and syringes. Option 1: Sharps Disposal by Mail Program • Submit a request for a Sharps Disposal by Mail™ postcard. • Take the postcard to one of the participating pharmacy’s listed on postcard. • The pharmacy will give you a specially designed Sharps container for your needle disposal. • Once the Sharps container is full, place it inside the provided shipping box and drop it off at the post office or nearby postal box. • It’s that simple and there is no cost to participate in this program. El Programa de Beca Cathedral City WaterSmart Landscape fue creado para educar, alentar y ayudar a los residentes de Cathedral City con la conversión de su jardinería actual (verde) a un jardín más tolerantes a la sequía, la utilización más eficiente del agua y reducir la cantidad de agua que se derrame en nuestra ciudad. Programe su Cita Cuando usted este listo para deshacerse y colocar un artículo grande a la orilla de la banqueta, por favor llame o envie un correo electrónico a Burrtec y haga una cita. Representantes de Servicio al Cliente de Burrtec le programaran una cita durante el próximo día de servicio el cual normalmente recogen su basura. Cuando envie su petición por correo electrónico, asegurese de incluir su domicilio, numero de artículos grandes y una descripción de cada uno de los artículos grandes que usted va a poner a la orilla de la banqueta. Si no proporciona toda la información correcta, podria resultar en una demora del servicio.

Límite De 4 Artículos Por Semana Residentes de Cathedral City son permitidos utilizar este servicio GRATIS semanalmente.
