The Jury Award of the first ‚ZFF 72 Talent Contest’ went to „Zufällig Sie?“ by the three students Christian Wütschner, Lennart Benz and Lennart Zellmer from Friedrichshafen. They win CHF 5’000 in cash and CHF 500 worth of ‚Pond5 Credits’. The public decided that Luca Keller’s entry „Der Lauf der Dinge“ should get the Viewers Award. Luca wins CHF 4’000 and CHF 500 worth of ‚Pond5 Credits’. Participants were given 72 hours to shoot a film lasting no longer than 72 seconds with the theme ,by chance’. Karl Spoerri: „Far exceeded all expectations“ „The ‚ZFF 72 Talent Contest’ far exceeded all our expectations. We were able with
this innovative contest give new filmmakers the incentive to tell us a short cinematic story”, said ZFF Co-‐Director and initiator of the talent contest, Karl Spoerri. He continued: “We received more traffic at zff.com than we have ever had before.” More than 100’000 unique visitors visited the ‚zff.com/72 Talent Contest’ site in three days. The ZFF Channel generated over 200’000 views. More than 200 of the films submitted came from Switzerland. The rest came from Germany (12), Austria (7) and France, Ireland, Kenya, Peru, Paraguay, Romania, USA and South Africa (each 1). ZFF wanted to rouse film fever in the filmmaking talent of tomorrow and motivate people to have a go at filmmaking outside the box. The jury of experts was made up of Lucas Ochoa, a film producer from London; Bart Wassem, a freelance clips and visuals designer; Benjamin Kniel, a member of the Swiss band Klischée; and the college graduate Aurelia Weickert, who has just written a paper about film education in schools. “We were blown away by the artistic quality of many of the videos. It’s unbelievable how creative the participants were, especially within the short time frame of just 72 hours. We would liked to have awarded several first prizes”, said jury spokeswoman Aurelia Weickart.
