Hearing Details & Purpose:

The State University of New York Board of Trustees (SUNY Trustees), in its capacity as a charter authorizer, has received an application to renew and revise enrollment for a charter school for a term of five years, commencing August 1, 2018. Citizens of the World New York – Crown Heights is a charter school located at 791 Empire Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11213 in Community School District 17. The charter school is currently authorized to serve 315 students in grades K-5. Under the new charter, Citizens of the World New York – Crown Heights would be authorized to serve 432 students in grades K-5. Pursuant to Education Law § 2857(1), the New York City Department of Education is required to hold a public hearing to solicit comment from the community in connection with the charter school renewal process. The application does not include any changes to the utilization of school district space. Any changes to the utilization of school district space would be addressed in separate processes and public hearings.

En su calidad y autoridad estatutoria, la junta administrativa de la Universidad del Estado de Nueva York (SUNY) recibió una solicitud para renovar y revisar la matrícula estudiantil de una escuela chárter, por un periodo de cinco años, comenzando el 1 de agosto de 2018. Citizens of the World New York – Crown Heights es una escuela chárter localizada en 791 Empire Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11213 en el Distrito Escolar Comunal 17. La escuela está autorizada para prestar servicio a 315 estudiantes de kinder a 5.o grado inclusive. Con la nueva autorización, Citizens of the World New York – Crown Heights estaría en capacidad de recibir 432 estudiantes de kínder a 5.o grado inclusive.
