History (Purpose of implementing SaudiEDI e-trade system) 9
The Public Investment Fund (PIF), had the foresight and vision to undertake this enormous project to implement a kingdom-wide automated trade clearance facilitation system to tie-in with the World Trade Organization (WTO)’s guidelines.

PIF and Saudi Customs envisaged that the Saudi import-export trade with the region and the world at large will grow significantly over the years. PIF desired a paperless, automated, robust and scalable system, which links the whole trading community and the Government.

Key stakeholders or beneficiaries of the SaudiEDI project include Government sector stakeholders like Saudi Customs Department (Strategic partner), Ports Authority, Department of Zakat and Income Tax (DZIT), Costal Guards, Statistics Dept, to name a few.
Private sector stakeholders include Stevedores, Shipping Agents, Customs Brokers, Port Contractors, Port Operators, Express Mail Compaines and Traders.

Mission: “Automating Customs regulations in coordination with Saudi Customs as well as reengineering integration processes within all import and export related stakeholders through one unified electronic gateway _________________________________
Goals/ Objectives: • The two key goals are transparency and speedy trade clearance.

Providing more innovated and value added services to our customers (Cert of Origin, e-invoices) Linking with more other related Government & Privet entities (SFDA, SASO, MCIT, MOCI, Aramco, Sabic….) Integrating with similar projects to be the main hub for e-trade in GCC countries. Cooperating with international countries in providing consultancy services to replicate the same solution and share knowledge. In order to promote a culture of innovation in the public sector, we executed the following key strategies to ensure the successful implementation of SaudiEDI: 9 9 9 9 9 9
Garnering full support and cooperation of all the key stakeholders at various levels. Change management in terms of changing mindsets, work processes and tools. End-user training in terms of IT literacy and SaudiEDI applications. Upgrading internet and telecoms infrastructure services in the Kingdom. Aggressive marketing, hand-holding ,support services recruitment and training of a competent and committed team. Increasing our clients knowlege by conducting contiouse seminars and collecting feedback.
