Founded by John O’Donnell in 1990 and named after Nicolas Gombert (c. 1495—1560), the Ensemble specialises in a cappella performance of Franco-Flemish music of the High Renaissance. The Ensemble’s subscription concerts have been broadcast on ABC Classic FM, and they have recorded several CDs. Ensemble Gombert appears frequently at festivals across Australia and has toured North America and Europe. ‘The Ensemble demonstrated yet again why its reputation as the city’s indubitable experts in Renaissance choral music is unchallenged.’ O’Connell the Music, 2016

Melbourne Recital Centre acknowledges the people of the Kulin nation on whose land this concert is being presented.
