Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, On March 6th, our Diocese will be taking up the Annual Ash Wednesday Collection benefiting Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada. Our faith calls us to place a special focus on prayer, fasting and almsgiving throughout the Lenten season. Through our stewardship, we are able to put the Corporal Works of Mercy into practice by supporting Catholic Charities’ efforts to provide food, shelter and comprehensive services to each and every person created in the image and likeness of God. To feed the hungry: One in six seniors in Southern Nevada struggles with hunger. Catholic Charities’ Meals on Wheels serves more than 2,100 isolated seniors daily. The St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility serves a free meal every day of the year to over 700 hungry men, women, and children. The Hands of Hope Community Food Pantry provides supplemental groceries to over 4,800 needy families each month. To shelter the homeless: Many of the hundreds of homeless individuals given shelter at Catholic Charities each day and night are dealing with mental health and/or addiction problems. Your donations provide the necessary funds to hire much-needed case managers who provide one-on-one assistance to help over 200 men successfully transition from being homeless to becoming self-sufficient. Whether people are struggling in poverty, homelessness, being homebound, or with adjusting to life as a refugee, your almsgiving makes it possible for Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada to provide help and hope to more than 4,200 men, women, and children every day. Queridas hermanas y hermanos en Cristo, El 6 de marzo, nuestra Diócesis tomará la Colecta Anual del Miércoles de Ceniza que beneficiara a Caridades Católicas del Sur de Nevada. Nuestra fe nos llama a enfocarnos especialmente en la oración, el ayuno y la limosna durante el tiempo de Cuaresma. A través de nuestra administración, podemos poner en práctica las Obras Corporales de la Misericordia apoyando los esfuerzos de Caridades Católicas para proporcionar alimentos, refugio y servicios integrales a cada persona creada a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Para alimentar a los hambrientos: una de cada seis personas mayores en el sur de Nevada lucha contra el hambre. La organización Meals on Wheels de Catholic Charities sirve a más de 2,100 personas mayores aisladas diariamente. El comedor de St. Vincent Lied sirve comida gratis todos los días del año a más de 700 hombres, mujeres y niños hambrientos. Spring Forward Don’t forget to set all your clocks one hour ahead! on March 10th, 2019 @ 2am Adoration It’s a New Year. Let us continue to make our life a reflection of God and honor Him in Adoration. Holy Family Chapel is our hidden treasure. As Father Steve reminds us, we are to find time to develop a personal relationship with Jesus in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. May a weekly commitment to keep company with the One who had no place to lay His head be yours this 2019. Jesus did not leave us to walk our journey alone. He remains with us always in the Eucharist wanting to be with us, in us, and for us.

Como nos recuerda el Padre Steve, debemos encontrar tiempo para desarrollar una relación personal con Jesús en oración ante el Santísimo Sacramento. Que un compromiso semanal de mantener la compañía con Aquel que no tenía lugar para recostar Su cabeza sea tuyo este 2019. Jesús no nos deja caminar solos en nuestro camino. Él permanece con nosotros siempre en la Eucaristía queriendo estar con nosotros, en nosotros y por nosotros.
