Dear Parishioners, We are in the midst of the Advent Season and preparing for Christmas. We are putting up Christmas decorations in our homes and in our church. We are preparing our homes and church for Christmas where we will be visited by family and friends. But are we preparing our hearts for the coming of the Lord? Have we taken time out of our busy schedules to spend some time in prayer? Have we visited the Blessed Sacrament? Have we reached out to help someone in need? Have we looked at an area of your life that needs to be changed? If not, it is not too late. We can take some time during the remaining two weeks before Christmas to hit the pause button and spend some time preparing our hearts for Christmas. We have an excellent opportunity this Monday, December 10th to go to Confession. We will be having our Advent Evening of Reconciliation (Confessions) from 4 pm to 8 pm and will have priests available to hear confessions in English and Spanish. This week we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The details of the activities are in the bulletin. Many will say that the Feast is a Hispanic or Mexican thing. But did you know that Pope Pius XII declared Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Americas? So the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is for everyone. So I invite everyone to celebrate our Patroness together on December 11th and 12th. Next Monday, December 17th, Fr. Joseph O’Brien, O.P., will be collecting gift cards to Albertson’s, Smith’s, Target, and Walmart to help the clients of the St. Therese Center who are struggling with HIV and AIDS. Please bring your Angel Tree gift cards back by next weekend. If you haven’t gotten your raffle ticket for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, it is not too late to do so. Tickets are only $10.00 with the grand prize being $1,000. Purchase them from the office, after mass, or at the feast day celebrations. Coming up on Monday, December 17th from 6-8 pm, we will be having Posadas, a traditional reenactment of Mary and Joseph's search for lodging in Bethlehem, performed just before Christmas. All are invited to a potluck (bring a dish to pass), to listen to some good music and fellowship, and of course we will have a piñata for the kids. As we continue through the Advent season on our way to Christmas, remember to take some time out of your schedule and to prepare your hearts for the coming of Jesus. Take time to pray. Take time to help someone in need. If there is anything Fr. Tony or I can do, just ask. May God bless you and your family!

Sincerely yours in Christ, Steve Hoffer Pastor of Holy Family

Adoration Our Parish is privileged in having Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Praying before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is a great opportunity for our Advent journey. A time that does not disappoint because prayer keeps us in God’s loop, and offers us grace to accept the happenings of the day. An hour may be too long so the Catholic Church encourages pop visits. Pop in and share the ups and downs of the day. Our steps leading to the Chapel will be our greatest song in celebration the new born child of Bethlehem. May this private time in closeness prayer be ours.
