• reVisitas no implica retención
Los Actores
Tell me : the actors An actor (= stakeholder) is a physical person whose job responsibilities have a direct Non decisional actor or indirect influence on the website
Decisional
Non decisional
The 2 flavors of decisional actors Direct
Indirect
Usually the most evident one
Often among the most important ones
Makes decisions which affect directly the website (design, content, advertising…)
Provides resources that make the existence of the website possible
Internals or externals (design agency, advertising agency…) or, quite often, both Online is the most important channel
Online is just one of many available channels

Practical approach : the actors/goals workshop • • • •
Involves only Direct decisional actors Keep size reasonable – 10 participants is a max ! Regional workshops better than organization based workshop Use face to face mini workshops for actors who can’t make it to the workshop and for Indirect decisional actors • Typical agenda (5 hours) : – – – – –
Presentation – what will we try to achieve during the workshop Quick participant presentation Macro goal sessions – one macro goal on a Post-it and a name Macro Goal recap and grouping : the official goal list Micro goals session – break official macro goals into micro goals and suggest existing action sets – one set per post-it with name and periodicity – Micro goals recap and grouping – the official micro goal and action sets list + names
KPIs
• Count: The most basic unit of measure, a single number, not a ratio. Often a whole number (visits = 12,398) but not necessarily (total sales = $52,126.37).
• Ratio: Typically, a count divided by a count, although a ratio can use either a count or a ratio in the numerator or numerator. Because it is a ratio, ‘per’ is tipically in the name, such as ‘Page Views per Visit’. A ratio’s definition defines the ratio itself, as well as any underlying metrics. • KPI: While a KPI can be either a count or a ratio. It is frequently a ratio. While basic counts and ratios can be used by all website types, a KPI is infused with business strategy – hence the term ‘key’ – and therefore the set of appropriate KPIs typically differs between site and process types.

To conclude… KPIs can not come from the bottom up - Management should always participate to the KPI process and support it
It is easier to manage a few KPIs than be flooded by them – No one can effectively manage a dashboard of 100 KPIs
KPIs are usually a ratio of some sort - It is the combination that make them meaningfull regardless of the absolute figures
As Einstein once said “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts"
