GOVERNING BOARD CANDIDATE STATEMENT SAHUARITA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 30

Kris Ham Kris Ham is the mother of two boys, Carter (20) a U of A sophomore and Payson (17) a Walden Grove High School Senior. Ham and her husband, Garrett, have raised their boys in the Sahuarita Unified School District and she has volunteered in the district from the time the boys were in pre-school as a classroom volunteer, PTA president and Governing Board Member. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona. She was first elected to the Sahuarita Governing Board in 2008 and is currently seeking her third term on the board. As a member of the Sahuarita Governing Board, she has been an instrumental part of the leadership team overseeing the continued growth of the district and addition of new schools and staff. Her priorities in education lie in ensuring every student in the district is given the tools to succeed. She believes that when a student graduates from the Sahuarita district; whether their next step is continued education at a trade school, university/college or in the military or straight into the workforce, a Sahuarita district graduate should be well prepared for their next chapter in life. In addition to being a Sahuarita USD Governing Board member, Ham also volunteers with Pima County 4-H and the Arizona National Livestock Show.

DECLARACION DEL CANDIDATO A LA JUNTA DE GOBIERNO DEL DISTRITO ESCOLAR UNIFICADO NO. 30 DE SAHUARITA

Kris Ham Kris Ham es la madre de dos muchachos, Carter (20) un estudiante de segundo año en la Universidad de Arizona y Payson (17) en el último año en la escuela de preparatoria de Walden Grove. Ham y su esposo, Garrett, han criado a sus hijos en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Sahuarita y ella ha sido voluntaria en el distrito desde cuando los hijos estaban en la preescolar como una voluntaria en la clase, presidenta de la PTA y miembro de la Junta de Gobierno. Tiene un título de licenciada de ciencias de la Universidad de Arizona. Fue elegida por primera vez para la Junta de Gobierno de Sahuarita en el 2008 y actualmente está intentando obtener su tercer cargo en la junta. Como miembro de la Junta de Gobierno de Sahuarita, ha sido parte fundamental del equipo de liderazgo que supervisó el continuo crecimiento del distrito en adición de nuevas escuelas y personal. Sus prioridades en educación están en asegurar que a todos los estudiantes en el distrito se les dan las herramientas necesarias para tener éxito. Cree que

cuando un estudiante se gradúa en el distrito de Sahuarita; ya sea su próximo paso a continuar la educación en una escuela vocacional, universidad o en el servicio militar o directamente a la fuerza laboral, un graduado/a del distrito de Sahuarita debe de estar bien preparado/a para el próximo capítulo de su vida. Además de ser miembro de la Junta de Gobierno del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Sahuarita, Ham es también voluntaria con el 4-H del Condado de Pima y la Exposición de Ganado Nacional de Arizona.
