Commitment to Animal Welfare Grupo Nutresa S.A. For Grupo Nutresa, sustainable development is a wraparound goal that governs its corporate performance philosophy. The sustainability strategy comprises six strategic priorities, one of which is focused on responsibly managing the value chain with the purpose of achieving a responsible sourcing. To ensure this sourcing model and being aware of the possible impact of the multiple stages of the value chain, the Organization watches over animal well-being in all its processes, as well as in those of its allies and suppliers. Furthermore, Grupo Nutresa strives to find adequate environments for the animals throughout their development process, making sure to achieve productivity always based on sustainability criteria. Therefore, the Organization is committed to animal well-being by means of the following endeavors: 



 

Assuring that, by 2027, 100% of its own production of pregnant sows will be cagefree and will have an appropriate environment for their normal behavior with enough room and adequate facilities. Preventing conditions that cause hunger, thirst and diseases to the pigs used in its processes, and mitigating the impact during their pregnancy, feeding, vaccination, transportation and sacrifice. In the case of our international meat suppliers, we prioritize those who already have statements regarding good animal well-being practices. Ensuring a 100% cage-free egg sourcing by 2027. We will work with our egg suppliers so that they develop this animal well-being practice, in order to ensure the availability of their products at competitive prices and preventing all adverse impacts on our consumers.
