Reading
During our Close Reading, students will be listening and speaking about our non-fiction topic farms. We will be discussing the importance of farms and farm animals. Students will also be gathering facts and using newly learned vocabulary to talk about the topic. Students will be introduced to cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, and crops. They will be able to use their prior knowledge of farm animals to discuss what these animals give us and how they eventually wind up in our local grocery stores.
Writing We will continue to learn how to name a topic and supply information about that topic. The ultimate goal is for students to write informational texts independently. We will model how to write about a topic we know or a topic we read about. We will also be introducing 6 new sounds in Unit 7 called digraphs. Digraphs are two letters that make one sound including /ch/, /sh/, /th/, /qu/, and
/ng/.
Math We are finishing up Module 3 in math where we are learning to compare 2 sets and tell which set has more and which set has less.
We are getting more fluent with telling what is ONE MORE or ONE LESS. After the spring break, Kindergarteners will dive into Module 4 and learn everything about composing and decomposing numbers within 10. Module 4 marks the next exciting step in math for kindergartners, addition and subtraction!

Lectura
