MASS INTENTIONS Join us for Mass!

"This is how it is with the kingdom of God." What is a kingdom? Is it the brick and mortar that build up the castle? Is it the expanse of land a king can reasonably defend? Our notions of kingdoms may be romanticized in the modern era, but for the Israelites, a kingdom held deep historical meaning. Thousands of years before the birth of Christ, the Israelites had asked God for a king. After the reigns of David and Solomon, the united kingdom dissolved into factions, and the land was conquered by the Assyrians, Babylonians, and, finally, Romans. For the Israelites, a kingdom was something to build, both structurally and civilly. While this had ended in ruin for their ancestors, many of Jesus' contemporaries longed for the restoration of an earthly kingdom.

Jesus' words in today's Gospel are a radical departure from this perspective. He compares the Kingdom of God to a field, but it appears that the farmer has little to do with its progress. "The seed would sprout and grow, he knows not how. Of its own accord, the land yields fruit." Jesus introduces his followers to a new sort of kingdom, a kingdom where God provides the growth.

Friday, June 22, 2018 8:00 am †Ralph Graber Saturday, June 23, 2018 5:30 pm †The Dunham & Turkofski Families (Clarisse)

There is work to be done, of course. "When the grain is ripe, he wields the sickle at once, for the harvest has come." But for the Kingdom of God to flourish, there are certain things that are outside of our control. We sow seeds of kindness, justice, and integrity ? and then we must be patient. As shoots of faith appear, we nurture the growth with encouragement. As Christians, our task is not to build the Kingdom of God under our power alone, but to trust in the life-giving movement of God.

Happy summer! It is very important that we all continue to grow in our faith all year round. All elementary and middle school students are invited to our annual VBS held at the Trinity Center from 9-noon August 6th-10th! High school students are welcomed and encouraged to attend to help out. This is a great opportunity for service hours. Please save the dates! We will also have faith formation opportunities for adults in the parish coming in July. There will be more information on these opportunities in the upcoming bulletins. Please keep us all in your prayers. I will happily do the same. God bless you all!

A Father’s Wisdom Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6

"A Humble Thank You! We, at the Pregnancy Helpline of Walworth County would like to take a moment and thank all of you who supported our ministry through the Mother's Day Rose Sale in May. Because of your unbelievable generosity we were able to raise $5760 to go toward assisting mothers and families in our community. What an incredible sign of your commitment to life! We also know that Mother's Day can be a very difficult time for those Moms who have lost children or who desperately long to have children, and we want to send our heartfelt love to you as you continue to trust in God's grace for healing on your journey. We are here to support all of you in your journey and if we can ever be of service please don't hesitate to reach out through our helpline at 262-723-2020.

Knights in Action: Adopt a Highway Report The weather finally cooperated and we were able to complete the spring road clean-up on Saturday June 2nd. We completed the job in a little over 3 hours and collected 12 bags of garbage. Special thanks to brothers George Fincutter, Bob, Kennedy and John Bruce for making the time for stewardship of our community and environment.

Dynamic Catholic: We have a new free book available to our parishioners courtesy of a generous parishioner. “Building Better Families – A Practical Guide to Raising Amazing Children” by Matthew Kelly is available on the shelves in the Gathering Area. Please help yourself to our free materials.

Parish Reading Room: Looking for some good reading material this summer? Stop by our parish reading room before or after Mass and check out our titles. There is a wide variety of materials there for your reading pleasure. No need to “check out” your book – just help yourself and return it to the same shelf when you’re done reading it. Our Reading Room is located down the hall toward the parish office.

St Andrew Parish will be hosting their annual Summer Festival Friday, July 6th from 5:00 pm11:00 pm and Saturday, July 7th from 2:00pm-11:00pm. Come join us for a Friday Fish Fry, American and Mexican food tents, live music, beer tent, silent and live auctions, as well as games, treats, and bounce houses for the kids! We recently had Father Enrique Hernandez from the Milwaukee Archdiocese Vocation Office visit our parish to discuss ways to increase vocations to the priesthood and religious life. He said to pray, talk to your children (and grandchildren), and to support vocations within the parish. There are many ways to pray for an increase to vocations. A simple prayer is the Memorare. Saint (Mother) Teresa of Calcutta, when she needed something important such as a new orphanage, would pray this prayer thousands of times. Her prayers were always answered. We have posted it here so if you wish to pray this daily for vocations, you may cut it out and place it in a prominent place.
