August 2019 Dear Kindergarten Families: On behalf of the Sag Harbor Elementary School Faculty and Staff it is a pleasure to welcome your child to the Sag Harbor Elementary School Kindergarten class. The start of any new school year is filled with great anticipation and for you and your child this is an especially exciting time as you prepare for what we know will be a rewarding school experience. First Day of School School will begin on Wednesday, September 4th. For the first three days of school, the Kindergarten children attend for half a day. The hours for September 4th, 5th and 6th are 8:50 a.m. to 12:00. Bus transportation will not be provided at dismissal on half days. School hours for Kindergarten students starting on Monday, September 9th are a full day from 8:50 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. On the first day of school Kindergarten children will meet their teacher in the courtyard, the cemented area outside the Main Entrance. The children should line up behind the colored sign that corresponds with their nametag. This procedure will continue for the first week of school. Kindergarten students have designated seating in the front of the bus. Students who arrive by bus will be met and brought to their teachers by a staff member. Arrival/Dismissal Traffic flow on Hampton Street during arrival and dismissal times is a challenge. Parents are not permitted to enter the bus circle area with their cars to drop their children off in the morning - this area is reserved for buses only. Parents are requested to park their vehicles east of Clinton Street if they choose to walk their children directly to the school door. Children can be dropped off at the back of the school (Atlantic Avenue) or next to the school on Clinton Street. There is a drop-off zone on Clinton Street where school staff will assist your child(ren). It is important that parents drive their cars to the posted sign on Clinton Street to avoid creating traffic congestion on Hampton Street. Children and parents walking to and from school are expected to access the courtyard via the playground avoiding the bus circle and should always cross the street at the corner of Clinton and Hampton where the crossing guard is on duty. Morning Program Kindergarten students will begin attending Morning Program on Wednesday, September 11th. More information about Morning Program will come from the teacher. Parents are encouraged to attend Morning Program and to participate in the school events and activities. Lunch/Recess Lunch/recess time for children in Kindergarten occurs daily. Kindergarten students will engage in play activities and then eat lunch in their classrooms. Beginning the first week of full days, students must bring their lunch from home. A half-pint of 1 % low fat milk can be purchased for 50¢. Organic 1 % low fat milk can also be purchased at a daily cost of $1.60. Please find information for purchasing milk and an application form regarding the free milk/lunch program by logging into your My School Bucks account (an online payment system).

Snack Snack time is also provided daily. Students are encouraged to bring foods of nutritional value (fruit, fresh vegetables, juice, crackers and cheese). Please provide a daily snack for your child to deter him/her from eating their lunch during snack time. If milk is ordered for snack or lunch, a delivery to your child’s classroom will be made during those times. It is also requested that students do not bring glass containers, soda or sugary drinks to school. Students may bring a reusable water bottle to school and will be able to refill it as needed throughout the day. Busing Bus transportation services are provided to children in the district based on the distance between the bus stop nearest your home and the school. A letter regarding bus stops, pick up times and bus numbers will be sent in another mailing. Change of Plans Any changes in dismissal or pick-up procedures must be provided to your child's classroom teacher in writing for the day in question. The office staff cannot take responsibility for these requests over the telephone. These procedures are necessary for the safety and wellbeing of students. During the school day students who have appointments must be picked up before 3:00 p.m. Walking Field Trips The children participate in several walking field trips during the school year that support our curriculum. Please complete the online permission slip which we ask you to sign indicating that he or she has permission to participate in any of the walking field trips his or her class takes during the 2019-2020 school year. As walking field trips are planned, the classroom teacher will notify you of specific dates and times by means of the Friday newsletter posted on the teacher’s webpage. The staff of the Elementary School looks forward to this, the first year of formal schooling for your child. Kindergarten is viewed as a most important year and we will work together to support each child toward attaining success and finding joy in learning. Agosto 2019 Estimados Padres de Kindergarten: La Escuela de Sag Harbor, la facultad y los empleados, nos da placer de decir bienvenido a su niño/niña a la clase de Kindergarten. El comienzo de cualquier nuevo año escolar es lleno de gran anticipación y para usted y para su niño este es un tiempo especialmente emocionante al preparase para empezar lo que sé será una experiencia gratificante. Nuestro Primer dia de Escuela: La escuela empezará el 4 de septiembre. Para los primeros tres días de la escuela, los niños de Kinder (Kindergarten) asisten por medio día. Las horas para el 4, 5 y 6 de septiembre es de 8:50 de la mañana hasta las 12:00. El transporte del autobús no será proporcionado cuando se despide a medio día. Horas escolares comenzando el 9 septiembre es día completo desde las 8:50 de la mañana a 3:25 de la tarde. En el primer día de escuela, los estudiantes de Kinder encontrarán a su maestro en el patio, en el área cementada fuera de la Entrada Principal. Los niños deben formar fila atrás de la señal de color que corresponde con la etiqueta que su hijo /hija he recibido. Este procedimiento continuará para la primera semana de la escuela. Se solicita que los padres estacionen sus vehículos al este de la Calle Clinton si es que eligen caminar sus hijos directamente a la puerta de la escuela. Los niños pueden ser dejados en la parte posterior de la escuela (Atlantic Avenue) o junto a la escuela en la Calle Clinton. Hay una parada en la Calle Clinton donde personal de la escuela ayudará a sus niños. Es importante que padres manejen sus carros al sitio señalado en la calle Clinton para evitar crear congestión de tránsito en la Calle Hampton. Se espera que los niños y padres de familia que caminen a la escuela consigan acceso al patio a través del zona de recreo para así evitar el círculo de autobuses, y siempre deben cruzar la calle por la esquina de las calles Clinton y Hampton donde el guardia para cruzar las personas esta. Programa de la Mañana Los estudiantes de Kinder empezarán a participar en el Programa de la Mañana cuando sus maestros de aula sientan que se han acostumbrado a los procedimientos de la escuela. Esto ocurre generalmente hacia el fin de septiembre. Nosotros notificaremos la fecha exacta en caso que ustedes quieran participar en el Programa de la Mañana. Queremos motivar a los padres al asistir al Programa de la Mañana para así tomar parte en las varias actividades. El tiempo de almuerzo/receso para niños en Kinder ocurre diariamente. Los estudiantes de Kinder entrarán en actividades de juego y almuerzan en su clase. Empezando la primera semana completa, los estudiantes deben traer su almuerzo de casa. Una media pinta de leche entera a de 1% con bajo contenido de grasa puede ser comprada por 50¢. Leche orgánica de 1% contenida de grasa puede ser comprada a un costo diario de $1.60. Para informacion de comprar leche o recibir leche gratis, puede aplicar en la cuenta de “My School Bucks” que se encontrará en el sitio web de escuela. My School Bucks es la programa que usamos para forma de pago a escuela. Aperitivo ligero Tiempo para consumir sus bocaditos se hace diariamente. Se sugiere que los estudiantes traigan alimentos nutritivo (fruta, verduras frescas, jugo, galletas y/o queso). Favor de proporcionar bocaditos diarios para que su niño no hará comer su almuerzo durante la hora de consumir bocaditos. Si ordenan leche para tomarla con bocaditos o a la hora de almuerzo, esto se entregará a la clase de su niño/a a la hora adecuada. También se solicita que no traigan a la escuela envases de vidrio, o soda, ni bebidas con altos contenidos de azúcar. Los estudiantes pueden traer una botella con agua y llenarla en la escuela cuando sea necesario.

Cambio en los Planes Cualquier cambio al procesos de la despedida o llegada de su hijo/ hija, debe ser dirigido al maestro de su niño/a, por escrito día afectado. La oficina escolar no puede tomar responsabilidad para estas solicitudes por teléfono. Estos procedimientos están fijos para la seguridad y el bienestar de los estudiantes. Durante el día escolar, los estudiantes que tengan citas deben ser retirados antes de las 3:00 p.m. Autobus Los servicios de transporte por autobús son proporcionados para los niños del Distrito, y está basado en la distancia entre el parada más cercano de su hogar y de la Escuela. Una carta con respecto a la parada y de los autobuses será enviada a usted en otra comunicación. Caminatas Los niños toman parte de varias caminatas de estudio durante el año escolar que apoya a nuestros historia local. Incluso en esta comunicación está un permiso que solicita su firma que indica su permiso para que su estudiante tome parte de estas caminatas con su clase durante el año escolar 2019-2020. Favor de regresar este formulario al/a maestro/a de su niño/a. Cuando estas caminatas sean programadas, el maestro/a de clase notificará a ustedes con la fecha y hora específica, por medio del Boletín del Vienes, situado en la página web del maestro/a de clase. La Escuela de Sag Harbor espera con anticipación este primer año de educación formal de su niño/a. El Kinder es visto como un año muy importante y nosotros trabajaremos juntos para apoyar a cada niño/a a alcanzar el éxito y la alegría del aprender. Nosotros damos la bienvenida y la oportunidad de hablar con los padres de familia durante todo el año escolar.
