Funding Opportunity – Western North Carolina Senior Community Service Employment Program Deadline for Letters of Inquiry: Tuesday, March 22, 2016 Senior Service America, Inc. (SSAI), a national nonprofit organization that assists older workers, is seeking organizations interested in operating a local Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) for low-income adults 55 years and older residing in 32 counties in western North Carolina, starting July 1, 2016. Estimated available funding to be awarded in one or more 12-month subgrants from SSAI is $3.2 million (see Page 2 for additional budget details and key subgrant deliverables). Interested public or nonprofit 501(c)(3) agencies must send a Letter of Inquiry by 5 pm Eastern, Tuesday, March 22, 2016, to [email protected]. SSAI will reply to all inquiries by April 8. What is SCSEP? The Senior Community Service Employment Program is a national program that provides low-income older adults with part-time subsidized employment, improves their well-being, and prepares them for the local job market. It is authorized by the Older Americans Act and administered by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. Participants work an average of 20 hours a week and are paid at the highest of the federal, state or local minimum wage.
