GOVERNING BOARD CANDIDATE STATEMENT SAHUARITA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 30

My mission during the 16 years I’ve served on the Sahuarita School District Governing Board, has been to represent every child who lives within our 600 square mile district. all students do not learn in the same way, and every child has different needs. Working with my fellow board members and our District Administration, we continue to look for new and better opportunities for our students. I have lived in this school district since 1969. My son graduate in 1981, my granddaughter and her husband were in the classes of 1998 and 1997 respectively, and their three sons are currently enrolled in SIS and SHS. I served as the Principal’s Secretary at SHS from July 1993 through June 2000. I have served as an assistant Brownie leader, a Cub Scout den mother, and a 4-H leader, in addition to being active with the Sahuarita PTC, serving on year as President. Through my association with the Arizona School boards Association (ASBA), I have learned the best practices for school governance, and am able to keep informed of the latest laws and changes passed by the Legislator, to insure that I perform my obligations as a governing board member to the best of my ability. My involvement in the Arizona School Board Association and the National School Boards Association has enabled me to not only better serve our schools through knowledge gained, but bring the amazing accomplishments of our students to the attention of State and National leaders. It has also enabled me to better advocate with our State and National representatives for better funding and more equity for our students. I have also been instrumental in getting our district’s positive stories published throughout our State. In 2008 I received ASBA’s highest award for Continuing Education Units, and I have also received both the silver and cactus pins for education related community service, above and beyond my school board responsibilities. I was honored as one of five “All Arizona School Board Members” for the year 2010. Additionally, I served for eight years on the Board of Directors of ASBA. Five of these years I was elected by my fellow board members from all school districts in Pima County to serve as the Pima County Representative to ASBA. This is a liaison position between the school district boards of Pima County and ASBA. In 2013, I was elected by the State ASBA members to the Executive Board, as President Elect. I became President of ASBA in 2014, and served as Immediate Past President in 2015.

During my tenure, I also served on the ASBA Safety Committee for seven years, The ASBA Legislative Committee for 2 years, the Nominating Committee for one year, in addition to Chairing the Nominating Committee in 2015 as part of my responsibilities as Immediate Past President. I was the Sahuarita Delegate to the ASBA bi-annual Delegate Assembly for eight years. I would be honored to serve a fifth term on the Sahuarita Unified School District Governing Board.

DECLARACION DEL CANDIDATO A LA JUNTA DE GOBIERNO DEL DISTRITO ESCOLAR UNIFICADO NO. 30 DE SAHUARITA

Elaine Hall Mi misión durante los 16 años que he servido en la Junta de Gobierno del Distrito Escolar de Sahuarita, ha sido la de representar a todos los niños que viven dentro de nuestro distrito de 600 millas cuadradas. No todos los estudiantes aprenden de la misma forma, y todos los niños tienen necesidades diferentes. Trabajando con mis compañeros miembros de la junta y nuestra Administración del Distrito, continuamos buscando nuevas y mejores oportunidades para nuestros estudiantes. He vivido en este distrito escolar desde 1969. Mi hijo se graduó en 1981, mi nieta y su esposo estuvieron en las clases de 1998 y 1997 respectivamente y sus tres hijos están actualmente matriculados en SIS y SHS. Yo serví como la Secretaria del Director en SHS desde julio de 1993 hasta junio del 2000. Yo he servido como una ayudante de líder Brownie, una madre de guarida de Cub Scout, y una líder de 4-H, además de ser activa con el PTC de Sahuarita, en el que serví un año como Presidenta. A través de mi asociación con la Asociación de Juntas Escolares de Arizona (ASBA), he aprendido las mejores prácticas del gobierno escolar y soy capaz de mantenerme informada de las últimas leyes y cambios adoptados por la legislatura, para asegurar que cumplo mis obligaciones como miembro de la junta de gobierno lo mejor que pueda. permitido abogar mejor ante nuestros representantes nacionales y estatales por una mejor financiación y mayor equidad para nuestros estudiantes. También he sido fundamental en hacer que las positivas historias de nuestro distrito fueran publicadas en todo el estado En el 2008 recibí el premio más alto de la ASBA por Unidades de Educación Continua, y también recibí los alfileres de plata y cactus por servicio a la comunidad relacionado con la educación, por encima y más allá de mis responsabilidades de la junta escolar. Fui honrada como uno de los cinco “Miembros de la Junta Escolar de toda Arizona” del año 2010. Además, serví durante ocho años en la Junta de Directores de la ASBA. Cinco de esos años fui elegida por mis compañeros miembros de las juntas de todos los distritos escolares en el Condado de Pima para servir como la Representante del Condado de Pima en la ASBA. Este es un puesto de enlace entre las juntas de distritos escolares del Condado de Pima y la ASBA. En el 2013, fui elegida por los miembros de la ASBA Estatal en la Junta Ejecutiva, como Presidenta Elegida. Llegué a ser Presidenta de la ASBA en el 2014, y serví como Presidenta Antigua Inmediata en el 2015. Durante mi cargo, también serví en el Comité de Seguridad de la ASBA durante siete años, El Comité Legislativo de la ASBA for 2 años, el Comité de Nombramiento por un año, además de Presidir el Comité de Nombramiento en el 2015 como parte de mis responsabilidades como Presidenta Antigua Inmediata. Fui la Delegada de Sahuarita en la Asamblea de Delegados bi-anual de la ASBA durante ocho años. Me sentiría honrada en servir un quinto mandato en la Junta de Gobierno del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Sahuarita.
