P REPARING FOR THE C ONSECRATION OF THE A RCHDIOCESE OF S AN F RANCISCO TO THE I MMACULATE H EART OF M ARY Part 40 JACINTA RECEIVED VISITORS ONCE DURING HER TWO MONTHS in Ourem – her mother and Lucia. Lucia found her cheerful and free of self-pity. “I found her as happy always to suffer for the love of God and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the conversion of sinners and for the Holy Father,” Lucia reported. “That was her ideal. That was all she spoke about.” Mrs. Marto and Lucia remained with Jacinta for two days. It tore their hearts to have to return to their families. Jacinta had a large wound on her chest that was open and continually running. Her condition only worsened in Ourem. Back home in Fatima, she confided to Lucia, “When I’m alone, I get out of bed to say the Angel’s prayer. Now I can’t bow my head to the floor anymore because I fall. I say it on my knees.” Lucia consulted with a priest and received word that Jacinta should say her prayers in her bed. She communicated the priest’s instructions to Jacinta. “But will Our Lord like it?” Jacinta wondered. “Yes, He will,” Lucia assured her. “Our Lord wants us to do what the priest says.” “Then it’s all right,” Jacinta replied, obedient to the priest. “I won’t get up again for my prayers.” At times, Jacinta had enough energy to get out of bed and walk over to the Cova da Iria to pray the Rosary. She tried her best to attend Mass and to visit the Blessed Sacrament. She wanted to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion as frequently as possible. She did everything in the spirit of reparation. “I want to go [to Mass] in place of sinners who don’t even go on Sundays…Our Lord is so sad and Our Lady told us that He must not be offended any more. He is already offended very much and no one pays any attention to it. They keep committing the same sins.” Jacinta would look for every opportunity to offer sacrifices. If she felt thirsty, she would deny herself water; if she liked one food more than another, she would choose the food she liked less. She saw every moment in life as an opportunity to save souls from Hell and console Jesus and Mary. She tried her best to eradicate from her life even the smallest sins. She obeyed her parents as best she could and forced down the food and medicine that they gave her, even when it made her sick. Lucia would visit Jacinta daily after Holy Mass. They prayed together and shared deep spiritual intimacy. Lucia gave Jacinta a picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which Jacinta kept with her and kissed often. Jacinta wanted a picture of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, but Lucia could not find one. “Soon I shall go to Heaven,” Jacinta said to her. “You are to stay here to reveal that the Lord wants to establish throughout the world the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. When you start to reveal this, don’t hesitate. Tell everyone that Our Lord grants us all graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary; that all must make their petitions to Her; that the Sacred Heart of Jesus desires that the Immaculate Heart of Mary be venerated at the same time.

“Tell them that they should all ask for peace from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as God has placed it in Her hands. Oh if I could only put in the heart of everyone in the world the fire that is burning in me and makes me love so much the Heart of Jesus and the Heart of Mary.” †

JACINTA RECIBIÓ VISITAS UNA VEZ DURANTE SUS DOS MESES en Ourem - su madre y Lucía. Lucía la encontró alegre y libre de autocompasión. "Yo la encontré tan feliz sufriendo siempre por el amor de Dios y el Inmaculado Corazón de María, por la conversión de los pecadores y por el Santo Padre", informó Lucía. “Ese era su ideal. Sólo de eso habló ella. La señora Marto y Lucía se quedaron con Jacinta por dos días. Les destrozó el corazón tener que volver a sus familias. Jacinta tenía una gran herida en el pecho, que estaba abierta y funcionando de forma continua. Su condición sólo empeoró en Ourem. De vuelta a casa en Fátima, le confió a Lucía, "Cuando estoy sola, me levanto de la cama para decir la oración del ángel. Ahora ya no puedo inclinar más la cabeza hacia el suelo porque me caigo. Yo la digo de rodillas. Lucia consultó con un sacerdote y recibió la noticia de que Jacinta debía orar en su cama. Ella le comunicó las instrucciones del sacerdote a Jacinta. -Pero ¿le gustará a Nuestro Señor? -se preguntó Jacinta. -Sí, lo hará -le aseguró Lucia. "Nuestro Señor quiere que hagamos lo que el sacerdote dice." -Entonces está bien -respondió Jacinta, obediente al sacerdote-. "No me levantaré de nuevo por mis oraciones." A veces Jacinta tenía suficiente energía para salir de la cama y caminar hacia la Cova da Iria para rezar el Rosario. Ella hizo todo lo posible para asistir a misa y visitar el Santísimo Sacramento. Quería recibir a Nuestro Señor en la Sagrada Comunión con la mayor frecuencia posible. Ello lo hizo todo en el espíritu de la reparación. "Quiero ir a la misa en lugar de los pecadores que ni siquiera van a los domingos ... Nuestro Señor esta tan triste y Nuestra Señora nos dijo que Él no debe estar más ofendido. Él ya está muy ofendido y nadie le presta atención. Ellos siguen cometiendo los mismos pecados. " Jacinta buscaría todas las oportunidades para ofrecer sacrificios. Si ella tenía sed, ella se negaría el agua; si a ella le gustaba un alimento más que otro, ella elegiría la comida que menos le gustaba. Ella vio cada momento en la vida como una oportunidad para salvar almas del Infierno y consolar a Jesús y María. Ella hizo todo lo posible para erradicar de su vida incluso los pecados más pequeños. Ella obedeció a sus padres como mejor pudo y ella se obligaba a bajar la comida y la medicina que le dieron, incluso cuando se hizo la enferma. Lucia visitaba Jacinta todos los días después de la Santa Misa. Ellas rezaban juntas y compartían una profunda intimidad espiritual. Lucia le dio a Jacinta una imagen del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, que Jacinta guardaba con ella y besaba a menudo. Jacinta quería una foto del Inmaculado Corazón de María, pero Lucía no pudo encontrarla. "Pronto iré al Cielo", le dijo Jacinta. "Diles que todos pidan la paz del Corazón Inmaculado de María, como Dios la ha puesto en Sus manos. Oh, si sólo pudiera poner en el corazón de todos en el mundo el fuego que arde en mí y me hace amar tanto el Corazón de Jesús y el Corazón de María”. †
