Objective 1: Reflexive or Not? Foundational Notes: ● Almost every sentence in Spanish (and English) has 3 main parts: Subject, Verb, Object ○ Subjects do the action ○ Verbs are the action ○ Objects receive the action ex: I wash the plates. ● Subject = I ● Verb = wash ● Object = the plates ● A reflexive verb is a verb whose subject and object are the same. ○ I wash myself. ■ What’s the action? Wash (Verb) ■ Who is doing the action? I (Subject) ■ Who is receiving the action? me (Object) ● In English a verb is reflexive when you see words like: ○ myself, yourself, himself, herself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves ● But reflexive verbs in English don’t always use these above words. ● Your go to move to tell if a verb is reflexive: ○ Ask yourself are the subject and object the same ?
