Law Number 37, year 2012 Criminalizing the glorification of the Tyrant The National Transitional Council After having considered: -the temporary constitutional declaration issued on 08/03/2011 -the rules of the National Transitional Council -the criminal law and annexed laws -the criminal procedural law Announces the following:

Article 1er : Anyone who broadcasts news or press releases or false propaganda during war or a similar situation, or anyone who publishes provocative advertising likely to prejudice the defense preparations of the country or to weaken the people or to demoralize the spirit of the citizens, shall be punished by imprisonment. In the circumstances similar to war in which the country finds itself, it is deemed inciteful advertising to glorify Mohammed Muammar Abu Abed el salam el Minyar KADDAFI, his regime, his ideas and his children, to glorify them and show them as being good people or heroes or loyal to the country, and equally so to invert the truth, mislead people about their behavior, and all that they have committed against the country and its citizens, or to advertise in support of the regime or its members in any form whatsoever. In cases where inciteful news or press releases or advertisements cause harm to the country, the penalty shall be life imprisonment.

Article 2 Without prejudice to any more severe penalty under any other law, any attack on the revolution of February 17 is punishable by imprisonment. Anyone defaming Islam or the prestige of the state and its administrative and judicial institutions or publicly defaming the Libyan people, or the symbol of the state or its flag, shall also be subject to imprisonment. Article 3 : Any provisions contrary to this Act are repealed. Article 4: This Act comes into force after its publication in the official newspaper.
